The Summer Fashion Looks We’re Loving For Men This Year

Summer is finally here and things are looking up! As we start to return to normal or at least ease into a new kind of normal, we’re excited to get out of our sweatpants and get into some of Summer 2021’s most exciting fashion trends. Today’s post is all about the gentlemen. Here are some of the looks we are most excited to see on the streets and try out for ourselves!

Go Big Or Go Home

One lockdown carry over that seems to be here to stay? Everything oversized. It’s no surprise that after a year of sweatpants, skinny jeans are out and more relaxed fits are in. There are so many ways to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe. We love the way a wide-leg pant can make even the most simple outfits look instantly fashion forward. You can opt for flowy, silky fabrics, something with more structure, or even try out a pleat. There is no shortage of ways to make this trend your own.

Not sure if the wide-leg look is for you? If you can’t part with your slim-cut trousers and skinny jeans just yet, but you want to give the oversized trend a spin, we suggest an oversized trench. This classic piece got a glow-up on Spring Summer 2021 runways this year with major volume and fun colours. You can keep this jacket on hand for cool nights and rainy days.

The Return of the 80s

Last year was all about the return of 90s fashion. While those 90s fashion moments are still popular this year, there’s another retro vibe in town. That’s right, the often ridiculed looks of the 80s are making a comeback. But, don’t worry, this time around the 80s mainstays have some modern updates. So, how do you rock this trend in a way that looks cool rather than dated? We’re so glad you asked!

There are a few fun ways to incorporate the updated 80s vibe into your 2021 wardrobe. If you’re just looking to dip your toe in the 80s fashion pond, try a pop of colour. We’re not talking about a muted blue, we mean acid hues like bright pink, punchy greens and sunny yellows.

Want to take the trend one stop further? Turn up the brightness with a little neon. It’s certainly not the easiest colour to pull off. The trick here? Less is more. Try a bright sneaker, with a neutral outfit or a neon tee with an all-black look. Another great way to incorporate neon is with your accessories. A fanny pack or a hat will do the trick here.

Ok, so you’ve dipped your toe in 80s fashion and now you’re hooked. What’s next? The 80s suit is back. Think shoulder pads, double-breasted jackets and oversized tailoring. Go full tilt with pants and a jacket or wear them as separates. When done right this look is anything but tacky.

Fun Florals

“Florals for spring, groundbreaking.” - Miranda Priestly

Though we would never say it to Miranda Priestly’s face because she’s terrifying, we actually think florals as a men’s fashion trend is kind of groundbreaking and, frankly, we love to see it. From flowers on shirts to greenery on pants, florals were everywhere on Men’s Spring Summer 2021 runways. This trend is a great way to ring in a new season and celebrate a fresh chapter.

All of these trends are easy to mix with your staple summer pieces. That’s why we love them. Remember, you don’t have to invest in purchasing a piece of clothing if you’re not sure it’s something you want in your wardrobe long term.
